This rule is one of the rules manufactured and used in England between 17C and 19C for taxation of spirits. This particular rule is called "Comparative rule" and can compute tax values based on the "Proof" and volume of the spirit. This particular rule is assumed to have been made in late 18C based on the inscription "DICAS" on the rule.
