- This "Stadia rule" which was designed for surveying application has
characteristic "SinCos" and Cos2 scales for computing vertical
height and horizontal distance from the measured values by the transit.
- Upper scale on the slider (M1) has SINCOS scale on the left and COS2
scale on the right. Scale in the middle of the slider (M2) is SINCOS
scale for smaller angles, and can also be used to compute holizontal
distance more accurately when angle is small.
- In addition, this rule has K and inverted A (IA) scales on bottom
side. The IA scale, together with A scale on the front face, can be
used to calculate an inverse of a number. IA scale is offset so that
right hairline aligns with the A scale.
