| Atsuta Shrine is one of the most high ranking shrines among Shindoizm shrines. The Emperor pays respect to this shrine, among a handfull, at the New Year's ceremony at the Emperor's palace. The shrine is believed to house the Holy sword, one of the three holy items in Japanese mythology; the mirror, the jewel and the sword. |
