This fungus was reported as L.variicolor in Trans. Mycol. Soc. Japan in 1998 by T.

Tsukada. Pileipellis of L. variicolor in Europe consists of both fine and thick hyphae,

but that of Japanese material consists of only fine hyphae. ..... ... ...................

In my opinion Japanese fungus should be described as a new variety or a form. . ..
