VENUE

Location of Symposium Venue

View of Taiping Resort, Perak, Malaysia

The symposium will be held at Taiping Resort, located at the foothills of the Bintang Range situated in northwest Peninsular Malaysia. The nearest international airport is Penang International Airport on Penang island, the northern international airport for Peninsular Malaysia. From here, Taiping is easily reached via the North-South Expressway using bus or taxi. The journey is about 80 km and takes about 90 minutes.

Taiping, a heritage town in Perak state, was formerly known as Klian Pauh.  The discovery of rich tin deposits in Klian Pauh led to many feuds among the miners. In 1874, after peace was finally restored, the town was renamed Taiping, meaning "everlasting peace" in Chinese. Taiping is also situated along the Eastern Inland Corridor of the East Asian Raptor Migration Flyway, making it one of the most important raptor migration sites in Malaysia.
