■作詞者Johann　Wilhelm　Hey（1789-1854）は、ﾄﾞｲﾂ中部チューリンゲン地方で生涯を過ごした。イエナ、ゲッテｲンゲン大学で神学を学び、卒業後、ある時期から牧師となった。Gothaの宮廷牧師をしている時に、彼の説教が多くの聴衆を惹きつけやがて、1832年には、Ichtershausenと言う町の市長（Superintendent）に任命された。彼は子供の為の詩をたくさん作った。原作の詩の名前は“Weisst　du,wie　viel　Sterne　stehen”「どんなにたくさんのお星さんが空に輝いているのを知っていますか？」である。

■曲はドイツ民謡で編曲がLeo　Sowerby（1941）となっているが、この民謡については分からなかった。Twinkling　Starsと言う曲名は、英訳された歌詞（http://www.cyberhymnal.org/版）からとったものと思われる。http://www.cyberhymnal.org/の英訳歌詞は次のとおりです。
