We were born and grew up on a shore of the Lake Kasumigaura. Then we think this lake is very important for us and it is our duty to keep on it clean up to give it to our future generations.

Now we have a suggestion to the local government if farmers cultivate rice without using agro-chemicals around the lake, the government support these activities. Nitrogen, phosphorus, herbicide, insecticide, fungicide and so on which come from paddy field affect seriously against the nature. For example, nitrogen and some nutrients are accumulating and accumulating in the lake, as the result, the lake is polluted.  

           So irrigated water contains already much amount of nutrients, and then we believe that it should be no necessary to apply more fertilizer in the paddy field. After cultivation without fertilizer, the rice yield will be down, that's the reason the government support is necessary. The national government promotes "Political diminution of paddy field." If the government accept this idea, and if farmers practice more without using agro-chemicals, rice yield should be down, and then this concept is not contradictory form politics.

           Next, the rice harvested from these activities should be used for school boys and girls as the lunch. If they say "it is very tasty", it is great pleasure for farmers. Nowadays, consumption of rice is down to down year by year, the peak was 120 kg/person but now only 60 kg per year. It is just a half of once upon a time.

           If the children respect their parents' work, and the parents consider how keep on fantastic nature for their children, the relationship with parents and children is pretty good. To realize this idea, it is not easy, we know. But we will continue to our activities forever.
